 BIOGRAPHY

Music is her breath of fresh air,” close friends say about Lyric Jones. The Jones musical repertoire includes rapping, playing drums and bass, singing, writing, producing and even DJ-ing a little. She dips into jazz, neo-soul and mainly hip-hop. But whatever she’s doing, she brings a presence like no other.

“All I want is the exhilaration of being on a stage,” Jones said. Her hunger definitely shows. She’s hungry for the crowd to feel her music as deeply as she does, her powerful, message-conscious lyrics spilling out of the speakers.

Indeed she “makes 'em have a Jones for Lyric”, passionate, multi-faceted and strives to be indispensable. “Why not do it all? Why can’t I be an emcee, soul singer and jazz drummer? Music is music, I love Hip Hop, Jazz & Soul, so the world is gonna see it, know it and hear it.” The new college graduate is fresh out the books and ready to give the industry a face lift. Her highly anticipated debut album Jones St., which dropped in 2012, featured appearances from Grammy Award winning artist Esperanza Spalding, Jean Grae, J-Live, Raydar Ellis among others.

Originally from Boston MA, LJ began singing first. At a very young age, her first stints were in church, talent shows and community choirs . As a high school student, she was joint enrolled at Berklee College of Music in Boston; spent three years participating in their summer and academic year programs. It was at Berklee where Jones was known as everyone's “lil sis”, sponged from everyone and polished her natural ability as a performer and drummer. It wasn't long before teamed up with producer, DJ, and emcee Raydar Ellis, who was also known as the “face of Hip Hop” around Berklee. The two formed a strong sibling-like relationship, which Jones credits to her knowledge and appreciation of Hip Hop. Raydar immediately saw the potential in Jones as an emcee at age 15, originally the main one behind all her production.

Jones then moved to Georgia to study journalism full-time at The University of Georgia. At the same time in full pursuit of her music career as a hip hop artist; driving back and forth from Atlanta to Athens almost every weekend to rock various stages. As a drummer on the jazz scene in Georgia, Jones took on a more modest approach understanding her role. On the mic however, she continued to gain new fans and pack local Atlanta venues with her addictive energy and a stage presence that is beyond her years. She's hard to miss, always smiling with her “Girl Next Door” aura. Lyric Jones is all things music, clearly a lover of all genres. Her influences range from Jill Scott, Ledisi Lauryn Hill to J Dilla MC Lyte, Mos Def to Robert Glasper & Esperanza Spalding.

Lyric Jones recently relocated to sunny California and continues to push herself as an artist.

 BIOGRAPHY

A self described "writer first, singer third, and dreamer in between", Washington, DC based singer/songwriter B.jamelle specializes in storytelling by way of song.

By means of a warm and enveloping, sultry yet quirky vocal delivery, her debut EP entitled "Memoirs From the Thick of It" showcases solid lyricism riddled with passion, honesty, eccentricity and whimsical interpretations of her real life encounters. When asked of her process in songwriting and compiling her first EP she explained, "Honestly, these are my random journal entries put to music, except my journal entries are unique in that they're almost always rhythmic and written with melody in mind. It's all real, this is my testimony you're soon to be swaying to, and I hope it gets you through."

B.jamelle's debut release was indeed a labor of love, written with the listener at heart and is sure to be recognized for it's fresh take on "soul" music.

QWill & The Soul Review Project- Live At Dimension Sound Studios (album)

(reposted from Steady-Rock.net...the previous version of Mighty-Burners)

Qwill & The Soul Review Project keep it bluesy on their recently released Live At Dimension Sound Studios LP

Qwill & The Soul Review is an 8-piece ensemble which brings together singer/songwriter Qwill (a.k.a Jesse Ciarmataro) and a talented collective of Massachusetts-based musicians skilled in the art of making bluesy soul music. Their album, entitled Live at Dimension Sound Studios, is a passion project that came about from the groups desire to create a "one-of-a-kind live video and studio recording" supported and bankrolled by a grassroots online fundraising campaign. Produced by Qwill, the album includes 5 original songs written and arranged by the multi-talented bandleader, with each track drawing deep from the group's varied musical influences.  On the album's opener, "Midnight Blues", Qwill uses lush electric piano chords to set the mood for what proves to be a sleek contemporary blues number that lives up to the expectations set by the song's title.

 BIOGRAPHY

Those with a keen ear for music definitely gravitate towards the lyrical skills of rapper Aquil, a Philadelphia native, born and raised, with a signature sound. With a poetic out-pour in his verses, it’s easy for listeners to connect with and get lost in the rhymes of this deep-thinking artist. Being compared with Hip-Hop founding fathers such as Rakim, Nas, Tupac, Black Thought, KRS-ONE, Common, Mos Def and Talib Kweli, Aquil takes their influences and elite comparisons in stride. As a lifelong admirer of music, he has honed his skills, unafraid to mix genres such as the Blues, Jazz, Afro Beat, and Funk into a Hip-Hop interpretation. His live shows reflect just that; a level of creativity and fearlessness that leaves the crowd captivated, inspired and shouting for more.

Aquil released his critically acclaimed debut LP Land of Synth in the Fall of 2012 and has continued to push his music and art forward since that time. Aquil has worked with Grammy award winning producer 9th Wonder and his production team the Soul Council. Collaborating with emcee/producer Yahzilla, Aquil created a project titled The Bright LadySessions in 2012 which also received critical acclaim while gaining international attention and radio play. Aquil has performed at the NXNE music and film festival in Toronto, the 2010 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, and Power99fm radio station to name a few of his achievements. Aquil was named the coldest MC in Philadelphia by DJ Drama and Ice Cube for the 2012 Search For the Coldest competition. Aquil's music is reminiscent of classic Hip Hop, while still managing to forge a sound that is quite unique.

Previously releasing two mixtapes, Blues People (September 2008), and Darkroom of My Mind (October 2010) which sonically sounded more like albums, Aquil has set the mark very high; exuding purpose and style while maintaining substance.  A graduate of Temple University, Aquil chose to instead follow his passion for music rather than his Graduate Studies in hopes of returning the feeling of inspiration and creativity to music. With lines that are unapologetic, such as “I entered into a drought of musical doubts but open my mouth and eloquent notes just flow out” and “This platform for the stories that’s untold I’m like Dubois with a flow kick the Souls of Black Folk”, Aquil gets his points across with passion and technical grace. He gives you his thoughts and feelings along with a historical analysis and social-political commentary.
