The cover art for Aru-2's most recent instrumental album, titled EµZik (pronounced "e-music"), may look like something from a surrealist's fever dream, but the music is far from being unsettling. Over the course of 13 tracks, Aru-2 cooks up a nice mix of hip hop, electronica, and future-funk that's filled with warm analog synths and thumpin' drum breaks. The young Japanese beatsmith greets his listeners with twisting electronics and bass heavy rhythms that are constructed with a subtle looseness, which gives each track a noticeably organic feel. Check out EµZik and get ready to hear a gumbo mix of atmospheric future-soul music.
